How To Use Your Martial Arts Training And Not End Up In Prison

If you're like most martial artists, you joined a school to learn how to defend yourself.

Unfortunately, almost none of those schools understand that there are two fights you have to win.

FIGHT #1`: The actual physical fight, such as a home invasion, road rage, sexual assault, robbery, mugging, or bar fight etc.

FIGHT #2: The subsequent legal battle. There a bunch of martial artists in prison because nobody taught them this.

Not only are they behind bars, but they've lost everything they ever had. Their families, their bank accounts, retirement funds, and freedom.

As renowned self-defense attorney Andrew Branca says, "You learn martial arts to make yourself harder to kill. But you must understand the law to make yourself harder to convict."

If you're unaware of perhaps one of the most infamous of these stories, scroll down to "Martial Artist Sentenced to 17 Years For Killing A Bouncer."

Better Than The CIA's Training

I am writing to express my highest recommendation for Nick Hughes as an instructor.

The training I received at the CIA was comprehensive, but Nick's teachings transcend those experiences in both depth and application.

What truly sets him apart is his innate ability to teach. Finding a skilled fighter who is also an exceptional teacher is rare, and Nick embodies this combination perfectly.

Martial artist sentenced to 17 years for killing a bouncer

Isaias Umali, 31 of Jamaica, Queens was sentenced to 17 years for the killing of bouncer Dana "Shazam" Blake.

Umali was a student of the martial art Kali.

Blake was stabbed during a melee at the Guernica nightclub after asking a patron to put out a cigarette in compliance with the new smoking ban in NY clubs.

The patron refused, at which point Blake asked them to leave. A fight broke out, and the patron's friends joined in, including Umali.

Using a move Umali learned in class, he stabbed Blake in the groin, severing his femoral artery.

As Blake collapsed, the partygoers fled the scene.

After ditching the knife used in the attack, Umali ended up at his instructor's house, who helped him burn his clothes.

Upon hearing that Blake had died from his wound, Umali tried unsuccessfully to commit suicide.

To add insult to injury Umali's instructor took a plea deal and testified against his student.

Instead of being charged with aiding and abetting Umali in murdering the bouncer, he was only charged with a misdemeanor.

All this because nobody taught the students the legal ramifications of what they were learning or a less lethal option such as control and restraint.

Within self-protection, the ability to control and restrain an individual is an essential component.

Whether subduing a drunk family member or a police officer restraining a non-compliant offender, such skills should be part of our skillset, but sadly, are widely lacking.

It doesn't have to be like this. Good training exists, and none is better than the program by Nick Hughes.

The material, while being comprehensive, is very methodically presented, and the format allows the student to learn at their own pace.

Striking Arts Are Missing This Critical Element

What is it? The ability to control and restrain someone without hitting them.

The law is very clear. You MUST only use the minimum amount of force possible in a self-defense situation, or you run the risk of being arrested, going to trial, getting a criminal record, and ending up in prison.

Here's the kicker. Punching, kicking, elbowing, and kneeing are NOT the minimum amount of force.

That means if you're in an argument that's escalated, you need to try and control them or restrain them before you ever resort to strikes.

Look at something that used to be taught to law enforcement called a Force Continuum. While a lot of agencies no longer call it that, the practice is still sound.

It's simple. There is an appropriate amount of force to be used based on the level of aggression you're confronted with.

Get it wrong. Go to prison.

I Want The Course

Every martial artist needs this!

Nick Hughes' impressive background as a 4+ decade martial artist, seasoned by his time in the Foreign Legion and elite bodyguarding experiences, make this course informative, well-explained, and easy to follow.

Nick's knowledge of the material is delivered with his signature flair and contains lots of relevant insights.

His course provides an in-depth look at this very necessary aspect of self-defense.

Every martial artist should invest the time to take his control and restraint course.

Here's Another Problem With Striking Only Arts

What do you do at family gatherings, social events, parties or the office Christmas celebration when someone's had too much to drink and gets out of hand?

Did you know that Thanksgiving in America is the #1 day for the cops to be called in response to domestic abuse calls?

Punching your drunk cousin is going to land you in jail, put a damper on the weekend, and cost you legal fees and an arrest record.

Wrapping him up in a control move and having a "come to Jesus" talk is going to avoid all of that hassle.

The same is true at work. Someone has had a few too many and shoves you. You reply by punching or kicking them, then it's bye-bye job, hello jail.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Missing In Our Industry

Kudos to Nick Hughes for providing this course, long needed in the martial arts world.

His Control & Restraint series is a tool you MUST include in your survival toolbox.

The aftermath of a self-defense situation and the criminal and civil jungle are very real and have cost many students everything due to their instructor's lack of knowledge on this very important subject.

Nick's Control and Restraint course is setting the standard for today's serious practitioner.

The Solution

By learning control and restraint moves (ones that actually work and not the BS that's usually taught), you can avoid ever hearing any of the following.

"Turn Around And Put Your Hands Behind Your Back."

"You're Under Arrest."

"You Have The Right To Remain Silent."

"How Do You Plead?"

"We, The Jury, Find The Defendant, Guilty."

"I hereby sentence you to five years in prison."

I Want This Training

Worth Every Penny

Effective self-defense means not only that you win the fight but that you get to go home, kiss your wife, and hug your kids. The smash-em-up, gouge-the-eyes, rip-the-groin approach may win you the fight but could easily land you in prison.

Nick Hughes has nailed it with this course of what is undoubtedly the missing link in self-defense training.

Being able to subdue an aggressive opponent without damaging them is not only a legal requirement but actually represents the highest skill level and the highest moral calling of all martial arts.

What You'll Get

In Warriors Krav Maga's Control and Restraint module, you're going to become safer, smarter, more dangerous, and harder to convict.

Chief Instructor Nick Hughes used these techniques when he started bouncing at age 16 in the city's roughest club and as a military police officer in France's most dangerous city.

After going through the course, you will know

  • Over Fifty Moves (That's less than $2 a technique)

  • The Limitations of Control and Restraint

  • Approach zones that offer the best protection

  • Moves from the front, the rear, and takedowns

  • Details that only someone who's used these in the real world would know

  • Techniques that involve no touch at all

  • Defensive Control and Restraint against pushing and shoving attacks

  • Bonus law enforcement techniques for the 2 toughest problems cops deal with

  • Bonus modular section that you can use to train a security force

  • A chance to interact via Zoom to get your questions answered

  • Periodic additions

  • Lifetime Access

  • And a money-back guarantee

If you want to avoid ever being arrested, spending the weekend in jail, going to court paying tens of thousands in attorney fees, losing the right to vote and the right to bear arms, you need this.

If you're an instructor looking for a whole new module to add to your curriculum that will help keep your students out of prison, then this is for you.

Absolutely Invaluable

I've seen other courses on Control and Restraint, but none of them are delivered by an instructor with such a depth of knowledge and experience.

The course is not just "how to do" the various techniques but contains invaluable information on the tactics and strategies of how to make them work in real life.

Whether you're someone looking for some great self-defense skills when punching isn't an option, or you're a bouncer or security officer looking for really well-presented, realistic control and restraint methods, I can't recommend this course highly enough.

FAQ

CAN I REALLY LEARN FROM A VIDEO?

Yes. Harvard and Stanford do it, and so does the National Association of Sport Medicine. Google the Barefoot Burglar, and you'll learn about a kid who stole an aircraft after learning how to fly from Microsoft's Flight Simulator.
PS: I learned how to build this website and launch the course all from watching videos.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Simple. Hit the enroll button, fill out the info, and you’ll be underway moments later.

The videos at Warriors Krav Maga Online are clear and taught exactly the way we’d teach you if you were here in class, face-to-face with us.

They go into just the right amount of detail for you to grasp exactly what you need. Not only do we go over how to do a technique, but we also cover why and when to do it.

You grab someone to train with and get going.

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT?

Not for this module.

A mat might be nice for the takedown section, but I started learning Judo on a wooden floor, and all my karate training was done on wood.

An alternative to a mat would be outside on grass or in sand.

Other than that, just some comfortable clothes to move in.

DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM IN A SPECIFIC TIME FRAME?

Absolutely not. That’s one of the benefits of choosing to learn online. You can progress at your own pace, just like our live students do.

It's also yours for life, so take all the time in the world.

Anyone Teaching Self Defense Should Be Teaching This

I highly recommend this Control and Restraint Program to all, including anyone actually in a position to teach self-defense.

It stands out for its practicality, realism, and alignment with legal considerations. It is an invaluable investment for anyone seeking genuine and effective protection strategies.

Hughes’s explanation of, and emphasis on, the crucial concept of Force Continuum ensures a clear understanding of the nature of escalating threats.

The course provides valuable insights concerning the levels of force appropriate in various situations,

The legal ramifications of what we learn are often minimized or completely ignored in self-defense courses.

Nick successfully integrates appropriate, functional, skill-based training with the psychological aspects of threat assessment and effective communication in high-stress, potentially dangerous situations.

A HUGE RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT

We believe studying and applying the material you’ll learn in the Control and Restraint course is an investment. One of the most important you’ll ever make.

My commitment to you is to ensure that you feel like you’ve maximized your return on that investment.

HOW IS IT AN INVESTMENT?

How about an assault charge because you didn’t understand the legal ramifications of what you learned elsewhere?

How about an assault charge because the DA deemed you used excessive force?

According to legalmatch.com, it’s not uncommon for legal bills to get into the $10,000 to $15,000 range very quickly. That's just for a simple assault charge. If it's serious, it can go way higher than that.

That’s why $97 for what you're going to learn here is cheap insurance and an incredibly smart investment.

TO BREAK THAT DOWN TO THE RIDICULOUS, THAT'S ONLY $1.93 PER TECHNIQUE.

Yep, not even what you'd pay for a coffee. Super cheap insurance.
